The May issue of Aerospace America is live. Don't miss this month's featured story: "A New Light for Safety" by Keith Button. Despite the brushes with aircraft collisions at U.S. airports, FAA has no plans to expand its most elaborate and expensive ground collision alert technology beyond the 20 airports that already have it. Keith Button spoke to FAA-funded researchers who believe they might have a lower-cost solution. Full Story 

You'll also want to check out "China’s MarsBirds Tap America’s Ingenuity,” by Paul Marks. Spaceflight labs in China have devised concepts for Martian rotorcraft, including a quadcopter and an octocopter capable of scouting terrain and gathering samples. The designs could figure into whether China beats the U.S. in the quest to be first to deliver bits of Mars to Earth. Paul Marks analyzed the scientific papers. Full Story
